By recognising claims from SCCA Accredited Skin Cancer Doctors who are vocationally registered under the NIB First Choice Network (FCN) at a specialist level, NIB New Zealand members will have faster access to care through highly trained accredited Doctors who have completed significant additional study and passed rigorous assessment in skin cancer medicine.
This successful outcome reflects the strong advocacy efforts of SCCA on behalf of local members. We extend our sincere thanks to Dr Dirk Venter and our New Zealand Advisory Panel members who collaborated closely on this initiative.
Please note:
- Only SCCA Accredited Skin Cancer Doctors who are vocationally registered are eligible for specialist-level claim recognition
- All claims remain subject to assessment and must meet NIB’s standard terms and conditions for consideration
- Under the NIB First Choice Network, eligible members who choose an FCN provider may have 100% of eligible costs covered, with no gap payments (subject to policy excesses or co-payments)
Instructions
NIB have a provider portal where providers can submit pre-approvals and claims on behalf of members and, where members have the relevant benefit, NIB can pay the approved amount directly to the provider in accordance with the applicable policy wording.
To assess eligibility, NIB requires each doctor to email the following information to [email protected].
- Doctor’s full name, Medical Council New Zealand (MCNZ) number, and company name
- Postal address for the practice/facility
- Practice/facility contact phone number
- Practice/facility contact email
- Bank account details:
- Name of bank
- Bank account name
- Bank account number
- A bank deposit slip or bank statement for verification purposes
- Fees for the most common diagnostics, procedures, and consultations (GST inclusive)
- Confirmation that a HealthPoint account has been created
- The administrator’s first and last name, email address, and mobile number for text verification purposes only
An e-mail will be sent with a link from the no-reply NIB email to set up your account (sometimes this can go to Junk or spam inbox, so check there). Once you have done this, you can bookmark the URL and access the portal via: https://providerportal.nib.co.nz/.
You can submit claims and pre-approvals for both NIB and AA members through the portal. You will also receive a portal PDF guide and the opportunity to arrange a Zoom call to go through the features if you are experiencing difficulties in interacting with the portal.
